Daily Inspirations: Selflessness, Stepping into a Higher Realm in Life
Jul 10th, 2009 by admin
To give yourself to others is one of the most difficult thing anyone can do. It’s not easy nor is it always welcome. A lot of people do sacrifice for another- our soldiers, our parents, our relatives, our teachers and a host of mentors and other guides who with their own capacity and limits try to inspire and enlighten us.
Giving is not easy, because in a world where ownership, consumption and the pursuit of selfishness is promoted- to share and to give can sometimes be an uncommon thing. It’s hard enough and difficult enough to live with one another and a daily inspirations type of thought on selflness would be hard to devour. But could such daily inspirations reveal to us the meaning of a higher realm in life?
Indeed, giving maybe difficult, extremely difficult or undeniably difficult. However, it is not impossible. As people, we are capable of giving. We have the ability to share what we have and impart our life to others. The mere fact that we desire to relate to one another and find love, friendship or acquaintanship signifies that we want to give something. We give our time, our words and our attention.
If we continue to do this-to share ourselves-but put it in a higher degree, completely eradicating from our thoughts the benefit we can derive from our action but to fully focused on being a benefactor to another, then we become selfless. We reach a higher realm of living where no daily inspirations, no matter how amazing or persuasive they maybe, can lead us. Simply because this is a plane of life that only reveals itself when we decide to lose our self.
Our heart and our life, our work and our actions, our plans and our dreams are all functioning and have been or will be realized because someone gave to us something. And as a response we gave something back. Whether’s it towards our parents, the world or the throngs of people who may have been part of our life- we learned to give. But when we give without expecting anything in return and choose to believe that we are capable of sharing- our life, our time, our selves, we learn a very important trait.
A trait that will lead us to a highe realm in life. A trait that when it not only becomes one of our daily inspirations but a genuine guideline for living life, will bring us to a higher calling.
